WE OFFER

37 rooms and 3 self-sufficient studio’s
Rental period: 6 months (bachelor only) or 12 months (master only). Starting 1st of February and 1st of August.
A prime location, living in the city centre and close to the university of Groningen.
Wifi, G/W/E, furnished, cleaning of general areas, washing facilities, shared
kitchen and sanitary on each floor

“Best value housing”

I stayed at SGHG from February to July 2023, and it quickly became one of the highlights of my time in Groningen. Several friends had lived here before and spoke so enthusiastically about it that I knew I had to apply and they were absolutely right!

The Student Guesthouse is the perfect place to meet other students who are new to the city. With three floors of residents, there’s always someone to connect with, and I felt at home on my floor almost immediately. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and give you plenty of freedom to decorate and make the space your own.

If you’re new in town, here’s my personal tip: visit Café de Sigaar, especially in summer. Sitting by the canal with a drink is the ultimate study‑abroad moment.

I got a studio here for two months. The place is very new (May 2017) so the rooms are in a very good state.

Even if the management cannot answer very often (they also manage many other apartments in the city) they were always very helpful in case of issues, even in the weekend. It’s the same people that manage the Miss Blanche hotel, that’s why the office is there.

I got all the deposit back: it looks like it’s a lot, but I see the point considering I have seen myself a guy leaving the room in terrible conditions and they had to repaint the room and change some furniture.
Only quirk is that you need to buy a mattress: if you will spend there more than a month you will anyway save money compared to the alternatives.
Definitely the best place for “medium” (1 month – 6 months) stays in Groningen!
